About Me

My photo
I'm a quilting, knitting, sewing, cooking, reading, gardening nut who can never find enough hours in the day to get it all done. Then again, getting it all done is out-of-the question. I'm too easily distracted.

The Quilty Chicks meet Gwen Marston

Yep! That's us. We visited Cameo Quilt Guild on Thursday to hear Gwens lecture on Abstract Quilts in Solids, and on Friday morning we attended her workshop. I think that we learned alot, and I was amazed that Faye (the blond Chick) was able to break free and do as much as she did. (Faye usually likes patterns and rules!)
Nancy hit the ground running- she cut a big pile of strips and worked out her Liberated Greek Key and did a great job of it. She got lots of compliments from the other participants. I didn't fare as well as Faye & Nancy. I didn't get much sleep the night before, and I never quite found my groove. Also, as Gwen said, it's harder to work small than large, and that proved true for me. Anyway, I'm looking forward to pulling out my pile of fabrics and trying again....and I'm really looking forward to attending Gwen's retreat in Elk Rapids this coming September! I've wanted to go for years and I've finally committed to going.
A quick word about the Cameo Quilt Guild.....What a happy, friendly group of women ! This guild has some good speakers lined up for the year, and I'm looking forward to visiting them again.

That's all for now chicks!

Wow! Our blocks look great from a different perspective. I know I learned a little about being liberated. It was tough, but I was getting into it. Too bad class ended so soon. Thanks for posting that picture of us.

It was a most enjoyable experience learning to be liberated. I can't wait to see what the finished projects will look like. Great picture!
