Time Alone....

The men have gone to the Nascar race this weekend, so I am, for the most part, alone.
I LOVE time alone.  It doesn't happen often (read enough) so I really, really enjoy these kinds of days.
Since I have a few minutes to myself, I will do  little sharing.

Here is a full view of the Black and White Shirts / Mitered Squares quilt.
I love everything about it EXCEPT I hate the batting.  I used a thicker polyester....and I can't stand it.  It is WAY too warm.  That is what my family likes about it....and they requested thick, fluffy and warm.
That's the last one of those.  From now on its back to cotton or 80/20 batting.  If they want another thick,  warm quilt they are going to have to make it themselves.

Here's 2 pics of Baby Mason Tengler on his Shirts/ Mitered Squares quilt.  Love this one.  80/20 batting, linen backing.  It's scrumptious.  And so is Mason.

 And here's a pic of Tim and I at the Cincinnati Quilt Show....which also happened to be taking place at the same time as a Tattoo Convention.  Lotsa eye candy for us that weekend!

There were SO many very cool modern quilts there to see.  It was very inspiring.

So that's it for now.  I have to get back into my sewing area and make the most of the time I have......

I have been remiss...

I spoke to a friend today and the subject of my black and white Shirts Quilt came up...and I realized that I hadn't posted a photo of it finished.

While I know there is another better photo of this quilt somewhere, most likely on my camera (this was taken on my phone) I figured it was time to get this done.  So here it is.

When I find a better pic I will share it with you.  For now...this will have to do!

Very Scrappy Quilt

This is the very bright, Very Scrappy Quilt.  It's still on the floor at the farm, waiting for me to sew the last three seams.  I actually worked on this for awhile after I took the photo, so the piecing at this point is all but done.

I need to make a decision on borders now.  Its been more than a week since I've worked on it so I don't remember the dimensions, so if, at this point, the quilt is the right size for that batik back that I bought in Cinci I will be calling it complete.  I'll know tomorrow when I get back to work on it.

Just 15 Minutes....

 That's all I have to get this post together and done with....so I'm just showing you one pic from my purchases from the Cincinnati Quilt Show that I went to with Tim this weekend.

I was really taken by all the bright colors.
When I was at Paducah about 2 years ago, (if I remember correctly) Sew Batik was at the show vending.  They had pre-cut extra-wide fabrics...and I didn't get any.  This time when I saw them I had a quilt all ready for a bright back and I didn't pass up the chance to make the purchase of a 3 yard piece of 108" wide batik.
I bought several fats and half yard cuts from various vendors, and Vogue Fabrics was there with large racks of pre cut yardage at FANTASTIC prices.  Those are the long rolled up fabrics in the picture.  The batiks were under $6 per yard....and I would have grabbed more but my bag was getting heavy even for Tim to be carrying.  I decided that I'd buy just what I knew I would be able to use on current projects, and I can only hope that they will be at the show in Grand Rapids .  If not, I'll hopefully see them in Cinci again next year!  And I'll be carrying a second bag to even out the load........

Sometimes You Just Need to Laugh!

Off The Needles

So while I was sitting around (mostly in bed) complaining about this stupid cold and eating Chinese Food (Didn't cure the cold but I did gain a pound!) I kept myself busy watching epic movies like Braveheart and making the Gaptastic Cowl.

I used 2 balls of Wool Ease Thick and Quick in color 132 Lemongrass.

Its a super simple project....131 sts cast on, knit in Seed Stitch till the yarn is almost gone, bind off in pattern.

Easy enough to do when u feel like crap.

I suppose I could have let Tim take the pic, but taking it this way I knew it would be far enough away, and probably blurry enough that you wouldn't notice how really, really terrible I look.

I think it's (past) time to get a little work done.

And now I will get back to work....

Hey Girl,

I have a cold today.  A very bad cold.  I'm miserable and feeling worse by the minute.
Poor me.
Since my crafty plans fell apart today I thought I'd share this.
(I did manage to make 4 scrappy shirts blocks before I went to bed.)
Take your vitamins....Eat your apples.  I'll ck back with you chicks when I feel better!
