I've been locked in the sewing room working on Bonnie Hunter's Grand Illusion Mystery Quilt.
So far I've worked my way (slowly) through the first two clues, and tomorrow morning we get the third.
Step one has us making 100 of the yellow, pink and aqua broken dishes units (with 80 1/2 square triangles set aside for another clue)
And we had to make 200 of the pink, black and neutral blocks and sew them into 100 pair….creating those double diamonds.
I need to get my area cleaned up so that I can move on to step 3…the clue will come out tomorrow morning.
You can check in at Quiltville.com to see what the hundreds of other quilters are doing……there are link ups where everyone is sharing their progress!

Not sure i see the vision just yet but i love the pop of color!
If you find yourself with lots of time on your hands, you can visit her site,(Quiltville.com) and check out her link ups , and see everyones blocks…lots of people have them laid out in many different configurations, trying to figure out what this is going to look like when its done...
So you create your own illusion? Is that what mystery quilt is all about?
We get clues every friday morning…instructions for making units that will be used in the quilt. After a number of weeks we will get a Solution…so that we know how to put all the blocks we have made together into the quilt.
The inspiration for the quilt comes from The Grand Hotel …where Bonnie (the quilt designer) taught classes this past spring.
