About Me

My photo
I'm a quilting, knitting, sewing, cooking, reading, gardening nut who can never find enough hours in the day to get it all done. Then again, getting it all done is out-of-the question. I'm too easily distracted.

Minus 1 Degree Celsius, -29* Windchill

I'm not ging to let a little cold weather stop me from taking the mandatory quilt-in-a-snowbank picture.

I'm loving the look of the blues in the snow…these fabrics from the Emerson collection by Dear Stella.
I used the same tutorial that I used here for my grey and yellow quilt
from Crazy Mom Quilts…..

Tim, being the good sport that he is, braved the extreme cold to hold my quilt for a picture

The gusty winds worked against his best efforts…

I'm going to stare at this one for a bit….and then get to work on another comfort quilt for a sweet little girl.

Finished Knits

Here is my new favorite cowl pattern, The Honey Cowl , knit up with Madelinetosh Merino.
The golden color is Candlewick, and the other is Coquette.

My camera didn't do these colors justice, I'm afraid.  They are much richer, much more intense.
(Of course, the camera doesn't to anything to hide my errors.)
I'm going to give them a Soak, let them dry, and wear them in the upcoming cold-snap that we are going to be treated to by Mother Nature this week.

SNOW!

We had a great "Snow Event" yesterday/ last night / this morning.
The official total is 16.7".
After lots of blowing and drifting overnight, it looked something like this in front of my house:

I (not) having a wonderful time clearing the snow….it might be light, powdery and beautiful but I am starting to have trouble lifting it high enough to get it out of the way…..

While I rest my arms and back and warm myself up I can share a finished project that I got to mark off my UFO list:

Big Blue.  My Scrappy Trip Around The World quilt (Thank you Bonnie Hunter / Quiltville)!
This was the 2014 Quilt Chicks Challenge quilt.  Mine is 96" square….made from thrifted shirts with a linen backing.  It weighs a ton…and I love it.  It has been sitting waiting for the binding to be sewn on for months….and it's actually been done for a couple weeks now, but I'm a procrastinator sometimes when it comes to sharing finished projects.

Last share for now:

This…the snow over the man hole cover in my driveway.

Have a great day, chicks!
